Ramset Diablo Single Relay Loop Detector (DSP-11) - 800-85-35

The Ramset 800-85-35 is a top-quality fail-safe loop detector from Diablo Controls featuring the industry-standard 11-pin base. The DSP-11 / 800-85-35 operates on any voltage ranging from 11 - 30 volts AC or DC and draws about 35 milliamps of current with no vehicle presently on the loop. This micro-sized loop detector automatically adjusts its sensitivity levels when used on different-sized loops. The DSP-11's detector loop inductance should be between 20 and 2000 microhenries.

The DSP-11 features LED indicators: a green Power LED that will blink once per second to indicate the detector is powered on and currently operating, and a red Detect LED that will only turn on when a vehicle is over the loop detection area. If a loop circuit fails, the green LED flashes twice per second to alert you to an open-circuit failure and flashes ten times per second if a loop circuit shorts.

Fail Safe vs Fail Secure

A fail safe loop detector will output "detect" when a loop circuit fails. This is always much more useful on a safety loop. On the free exit loop, this will keep your gate open until the situation is fixed. This is useful in applications where it is important to keep traffic flowing.

Alternatively, a fail secure loop detector will never output "detect" when the loop circuit is failed, keeping the gate closed or secure, useful in high security areas where containment or security is needed.

Remember that the DSP-11 is a fail-safe detector and you should never use a fail-secure detector on any safety loop.
